2 New Hybrid SUVs Coming Before Diwali

Are you planning to buy a new hybrid SUV this Diwali season? Well, here’s some good new for you. Two all-new hybrid SUVs are set to launch by October-November, 2026, either of which could potentially be your next purchase. JSW Motors is set to begin an independent journey in the Indian market with the launch of the rebadged Jetour T2 PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle), which will be introduced in partnership with Chery Automobile. Meanwhile, Renault India is preparing to introduce the strong hybrid version of the Duster SUV.

Here’s a brief overview of these upcoming hybrid SUVs.

Jetour T2

The upcoming JSW plug-in hybrid SUV is expected to feature the Jetour T2 i-DM’s PHEV powertrain, comprising a 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 26.7kWh battery pack. This setup delivers a combined power of 381bhp and 610Nm of torque. Transmission duties are performed by a three-speed dedicated hybrid gearbox. The Jetour T2 offers a claimed NEDC-rated electric only range of 139km, along with a combined range of over 1,000km.

Similar to the global-spec Jetour T2 i-DM, the India-spec version is likely to offer features such as a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a Sony surround sound system, a wireless charging pad, a panoramic sunroof, a 540-degree camera, a powered tailgate, Level 2 ADAS and more.

Renault Duster Hybrid

The Renault Duster hybrid will be the most powerful vehicle in its category. The SUV will be equipped with a 109bhp, 1.8-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 1.4kWh battery pack. Renault claims a combined power output of 160bhp and 172Nm of torque. The Duster hybrid gets a multi-mode automatic transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD) system.

The design of the Renault Duster hybrid will remain similar to its ICE-powered version, except for the ‘Hybrid’ badging. The interior layout and features will also remain unchanged.

In the midsize SUV segment, the Duster hybrid will be positioned directly against the hybrid version of the Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Grand Vitara. The next-gen Hyundai Creta hybrid and Kia Seltos hybrid are also among its upcoming strong rivals.
