2 New Hybrid SUVs Coming in July – One Offers Over 1,000km Range


July is set to be an action-packed month for the Indian automobile industry, with several new car launches and unveilings are planned across different segments. Interestingly, two new hybrid SUVs slated to debut next month – the Honda ZR-V strong hybrid and the MG Starlight 560 plug-in hybrid. Here’s a closer look at these upcoming hybrid SUVs.

Upcoming Hybrid SUVs in India

Honda ZR-V

Honda Cars India will import the ZR-V as a CBU (completely built unit) with an estimated price range between Rs 40 lakh – Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, it will be positioned against the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and Volkswagen Tayron.

Similar to the global-spec model, the India-bound ZR-V features a 2.0L, four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a dual-motor strong hybrid system. It delivers a combined power output of 184bhp and 315Nm of torque. The new Honda hybrid SUV comes with an e-CVT automatic gearbox and a FWD system.

Inside, the Honda ZR-V features a dual-screen setup consistng a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Other key features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, leatherette upholstery, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, ambient lighting, dual zone climate control and more.

MG Starlight 560

MG Starlight 560 plug-in hybrid SUV

JSW MG Motor India is set to unveil a ‘new energy vehicle’ in the Indian market on July 16, 2026. While official details are still pending, the model is likely to be based on the China-spec Wuling Starlight 560 plug-in hybrid SUV. The same model is sold as Wuling Eksion in the Indonesian market.

This SUV uses a 105bhp, 1.5L petrol engine paired with a 20.5kWh battery pack. The combined setup output stands at 195bhp and 230Nm. The Starlight 560 offers an all-electric range of 125km and a total range of over 1,000km.

The new MG plug-in hybrid SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 35 lakh – Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete against the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari.
