Powertrain & Fuel Efficiency
Both the Kia Carens CNG and Carens Clavis CNG feature a factory-fitted CNG kit with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine has reportedly been recalibrated for the CNG setup.
The CNG powertrain delivers a claimed power of 96bhp and 123Nm of torque. The CNG variants are expected to deliver a fuel efficiency between 22-25km per kg.
The factory-fitted CNG tank is positioned below the boot floor, reducing the luggage capacity to 116-litres. Both MPVs continue to feature an underbody-mounted spare wheel. Kia has also retuned the suspension system and upgraded the front disc brakes.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Atul Sood, Senior Vice President – Marketing & Sales, Kia India, said, “India is a diverse market where customers have distinct mobility requirements, and our approach is to offer them the powertrain that best complements their lifestyle and usage. CNG continues to be an important consideration for a growing set of customers seeking an efficient and practical mobility solution.
