Get ready to witness some major action from Kia India, as the South Korean automaker gears up to unveil its first BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) and HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) in the coming months. The carmaker recently released a teaser video on its social media handle, hinting at the debut of two new electrified models, with the caption, “The future is knocking. One clue. More than one possibility.”
At its 2026 Kia CEO Investor Day event, Kia confirmed that it will introduce 10 new models in the Indian market by 2030. Eight of these will be electrified vehicles including the Syros EV, Sorento Hybrid, Seltos Hybrid and Carnival Hybrid. The Kia Syros EV is scheduled to hit roads in August, while the Kia Sorento hybrid SUV is likely to arrive by the end of this year. The Kia Seltos will go hybrid in 2027, followed by the Carnival hybrid in 2028 or 2029.
Based on the latest teaser, Kia India is likely to unveil the Syros EV in July and Sorento 7-seater hybrid SUV in September or October, 2026.
Kia Syros EV
The Kia Syros EV will be based on the K1 platform, which also underpins the Hyundai Inster EV sold in European markets. While its powertrain specifications are still under wraps, the Syros EV is likely to borrow the 42kWh and 49kWh battery pack from the Inster EV. Hyundai’s electric compact crossover delivers a claimed range of up to 369km on a full charge.

Kia Sorento Hybrid SUV
Within Kia India’s portfolio, the Kia Sorento will sit above the Seltos and will rival the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and Volkswagen Tayron R-Line. Codenamed MQ4i, the upcoming Kia 7-seater hybrid SUV is reportedly expected to feature a hybridized 1.5L petrol engine. In global markets, the Sorento is available with a more powerful 1.6L, four-cylinder turbo direct-injection petrol hybrid powertrain.
Expected Pricing
As far as pricing is concerned, the Kia Syros EV will become the brand’s most affordable electric offering in India with an estimated price range of Rs 15 lakh – Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). The Kia Sorento, on the other hand, is expected to priced at around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
