2 New Maruti Family Cars Launching Soon – 7-Seater SUV & Electric MPV

With its Vision 3.0 strategy, Maruti Suzuki aims to regain a 50% market share by expanding its product portfolio to 28 models over the next five years. The Indo-Japanese automaker has a strong focus on SUVs, strong hybrid vehicles and electric vehicles (EVs) along with increasing its production capacity. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch multiple facelifts, a new premium 7-seater SUV and a three-row electric MPV.

Upcoming Maruti 7-Seater Family Cars

The upcoming Maruti three-row models will target family car buyers looking for fuel efficient and greener mobility solution. The new Maurti 7-seater SUV (codenamed Y17) will be based on the Grand Vitara, sharing its platform, powertrains, components, features and several design elements. Codenamed YMC, the all-new Maruti electric MPV will be built on the 27P skateboard architecture that also underpins the eVitara.

The 7-seater Maruti Grand Vitara is expected to arrive by the end of this year, while the Maruti YMC electric MPV could debut in late 2026 before going on sale in 2027.

Spy shots suggest that the 7-seater Maruti Grand Vitara will be longer than the standard 5-seater model, translating into a more spacious cabin accommodating an additional row of seat. Most of its design elements and features are expected to be carried over from the 5-seater Grand Vitara.

While the official powertrain details are yet to be revealed, the three-row SUV is expected to be offered with the Grand Vitara’s 103bhp, 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid and 115bhp, 1.5LL Atkinson cycle strong hybrid powertrain.

Maruti Electric MPV

Test mules of the Maruti electric MPV (YMC) have been spied featuring an eVitara-inspired design language. Key highlights include a similar front bumper with air intakes, flush door handles and aero-optimized alloy wheels. However, the MPV appears to have smoother body panels than the eVitara. At the rear, the vertically positioned taillamps that wrap around the windscreen look identical to the Ertiga.

The upcoming Maruti YMC is expected to share the 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs with the eVitara. However, its claimed driving range could be slightly different from its sibling due to its larger dimensions and higher kerb weight.
