Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to give a major upgrade to its highly popular lifestyle off-road SUV – the Thar (3-door). Earlier, the updated model was reported to arrive in the first half of 2026. However, the company is now gearing up for an early launch, which will take place in September 2025. The Thar facelift has been spotted testing multiple times, giving us a handful information about the upcoming model. Let’s take a closer look at the key details of the 2025 Mahindra Thar facelift we know so far.

Thar Roxx-Inspired Styling:
The new Mahindra Thar 2025 will derive several design elements and features from the Thar Roxx. On the exterior, the SUV will feature a newly-designed grille with double-stacked slats, redesigned headlamps and a slightly updated bumper. Save for the new alloy wheels, the side profile will look largely unchanged. At the rear, the updated Thar will sport a tweaked bumper and redesigned taillamps. The SUV model lineup might also receive new colour options as well.
Feature-Rich Interior:
The interior will witness significant feature upgrades. The 2025 Mahindra Thar facelift will offer a larger touchscreen infotainment system supporting the latest UI, an updated digital instrument cluster and a new electric steering wheel. On the feature front, the 3-door Thar is likely to borrow ventilated front seats, wireless phone charger, a 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, rear disc brakes and Level-2 ADAS suite from the Thar Roxx.
Same Engines:
Under the hood, the new Mahindra Thar 2025 will continue to feature the 2.0L turbo petrol, 1.5L turbo diesel and 2.2L turbo diesel engines. The petrol motor produces a maximum power of 152bhp, while the 1.5L and 2.2L diesel engines offer power worth 119bhp and 130bhp, respectively. Transmission options will include the same 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic units. Both RWD (rear-wheel drive) and 4WD (four-wheel drive) systems will continue to be on offer.
