India’s highly-popular SUV, the Toyota Fortuner, is set to enter its third-generation with comprehensive cosmetic updates and feature upgrades. The all-new model has already begun testing and is expected to launch by late 2026 or early 2027. Spy images and credible media reports have hinted at the expected design changes and feature enhancements. Let’s take a look what to expect.

Improved Styling
Spy images suggest that the all-new Fortuner will retain its original silhouette, but feature a more upright stance, a wider front fascia and a flatter bonnet. Most of its design elements could be inspired by the new-gen Hilux, which is already on sale in global markets and make its way to India as well.
Upfront, the SUV might feature a larger grille, slightly lowered headlamp clusters and fog lamp assembly, slim LED DRLs and a redesigned bumper. The rear design details are still under the wraps; however, it’s expected to sport slimmer, wraparound taillamps and a tweaked bumper.
Upmarket Interior
Interior details are not available at the moment. However, the all-new Toyota Fortuner is expected to share resemblance the new Hilux, sporting a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital driver’s display. Features such as wireless phone charging, a 360-degree camera, a sunroof, and ventilated and powered front seats could also be on offer.
What Could Be Under the Hood?
The 2026 Toyota Fortuner is expected to retain the exiting 2.7L naturally aspirated petrol and 2.8L diesel engine options. The petrol engine delivers a maximum power of 164bhp with 245Nm of torque, while the diesel motor is good enough for 201bhp with 420Nm (MT)/500Nm (AT). The Fortuner Neo Drive will continue to feature the 2.8L, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel mild hybrid powertrain. Similar to the current model, this engine will be available with a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission.
