Maruti Suzuki plans to expand its portfolio with nine new model launches over the next three years, including seven SUVs. While the carmaker has not shared specific details about these upcoming SUVs, the range is likely to include the Brezza facelift, Grand Vitara facelift, a three-row premium SUV, Fronx facelift and a new micro SUV.
For buyers looking for a subcompact SUV, Maruti Suzuki will soon offer three new options. Here’re everything we know so far.
New Maruti Brezza Facelift
The new Maruti Brezza facelift will come with subtle design and feature upgrades along with a new turbo petrol engine. The subcompact SUV is likely to borrow the 1.0L turbo Boosterjet petrol engine from the Fronx, where it delivers 100bhp and 148Nm. This engine could be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The updated Brezza might also be offered with an ADAS suite for the first time.
New Maruti Fronx Facelift
Maruti Suzuki’s top-selling Fronx compact crossover is set to receive a midlife update in 2027. The model is expected to come with slightly improved styling and a bunch of new features. However, the biggest upgrade could be the introduction of Maruti Suzuki’s in-house developed strong hybrid technology, which is being designed and developed for the brand’s mass-market models.
If reports are to be believed, the Maruti Fronx hybrid could deliver a fuel efficiency of over 35kmpl. Maruti Suzuki’s own series hybrid technology is also said to be more economical and efficient than Toyota’s Atkinson cycle.
New Maruti Micro SUV
According to reports, the new Maruti micro SUV (codenamed Y43) could be introduced as a replacement to the now-discontinued Ignis. While there is no official word on its launch timeline, media reports suggest it could arrive in 2027. When launched, it will be positioned against the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter.
The Maruti Y43 could be offered with multiple powertrain options – mild-hybrid petrol, CNG, electric and CBG. Maruti Suzuki’s in-house developed strong hybrid powertrain could also be part of the lineup.
