The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is one of the fastest-selling midsize SUVs in India, achieving the 1 lakh sales milestone within just eight months of its arrival. The model has consistently registered over 10,000 monthly sales and has become one of Maruti Suzuki’s top-selling SUVs. In the highly-competitive midsize SUV segment, the Victoris directly takes on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster and Nissan Tekton.
Aiming to challenge its increasing dominance, Hyundai Motor India is gearing up to launch a new midsize SUV during 2026 Diwali season. It’s expected to be based on the global-spec Bayon compact crossover, and will be sold alongside the Creta. Meanwhile, Honda Cars India will introduce the Elevate facelift, while Renault India will launch the Duster hybrid around the Diwali festive season.
Here’s a quick look at these upcoming midsize SUVs.
Hyundai Bayon-Based SUV
Codenamed Bc4i, the new Hyundai midsize SUV is expected to measure around 4.18 metres in length, and will be offered with petrol and CNG powertrain options. The petrol version is likely to feature Hyundai’s proven 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox options. The same engine will also be available with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
Honda Elevate Facelift
The 2026 Honda Elevate facelift is expected to receive minimal design changes and feature upgrades while retaining the existing 121bhp, 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine. The SUV could feature a revised front fascia with redesigned LED headlamps featuring a new lighting signature along with a tweaked bumper. Inside the cabin, the Elevate facelift is likely to feature new upholstery, updated cabin trims and a new touchscreen.
Renault Duster Hybrid
The Renault Duster hybrid will be powered by a 1.8L, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 1.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It offers a combined output of 160bhp. The carmaker claims that the Duster hybrid can run in EV mode for up to 80% of city driving. Transmission duties are handled by an 8-speed multi-mode DHT (dedicated hybrid transmission) unit.
