39,506 Maruti Grand Vitara Recalled


Maruti Suzuki has announced a voluntary recall of the Grand Vitara SUV manufactured between December 9, 2024, and April 29, 2025. The recall exercise covers a total of 39,506 units, which have been identified with a potential defect in their fuel level indicator and low fuel warning light within the speedometer assembly.

The affected vehicles might display an inaccurate fuel status, which could result the vehicle running out of fuel suddenly. This might cause problems, especially while driving on highways or in isolated locations.

In order to fix the issue, the company will directly reach out to owners of the affected units. Owners can also visit any authorized Maruti Suzuki workshop, where the faulty speedometer assembly or component will be inspected and replaced. The carmaker has clarified that the repair will be done at no additional cost. Customers can also log on the Maruti Suzuki’s official website, and enter their VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) to check if their vehicle come under the recall exercise.

Petrol Mild-Hybrid & Strong Hybrid Powertrains

The Maruti Grand Vitara is available with two engine options – a 103hp, 1.5-litre K15C petrol mild-hybrid and a Toyota-sourced 92hp, 1.5-litre, three-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol unit paired with an electric motor (79bhp/141Nm). The mild-hybrid powertrain comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, while the strong hybrid version uses an e-CVT transmission. These powertrains are offered in the Toyota Hyryder.

Claimed Mileage Figures

Maruti claims that the Grand Vitara mild-hybrid petrol delivers a fuel efficiency of 21.1kmpl with manual, 19.38kmpl with manual AWD and 20.58kmpl with automatic gearbox combination. The Maruti Grand Vitara strong hybrid version returns a claimed mileage of 27.97kmpl.
