While he didn’t reveal the names or details of the upcoming Maruti EVs, here’re four models that they could potentially be, based on available media reports and industry speculations.
Maruti YMC Electric MPV

According to media reports, the Indo-Japanese carmaker is working on a subcompact electric MPV (codenamed YMC), which could enter production by late 2026. It’s likely to be based on a derivative of the 27PL skateboard platform, and will sit below the Ertiga in the company’s product lineup. The Maruti YMC electric MPV is expected to share powertrains with the eVitara, which is available with 40kWh and 61kWh battery pack options.
Maruti Y2V Hatchback
The carmaker is also reportedly developing an entry-level electric hatchback (codenamed Y2V), which might arrive by 2028. It will be designed and developed locally, and with competitive pricing, will compete against the Tata Tiago EV. Reports suggest that the upcoming Y2V hatchback could be based on the Suzuki eWX concept.
Maruti Fronx EV & Brezza EV
The carmaker might leverage the strong brand value of the Fronx and Brezza by introducing their electric iterations by 2031. If launched, these EVs are likely to target urban buyers with a decent range, modern features, and competitive pricing. As of now, there is no official information about these products.
Maruti Suzuki’s Hybrid Plan
The Indo-Japanese automaker is also developing its own series strong hybrid technology, which is expected to debut with the updated Fronx in 2027. The new Maruti hybrid powertrain is claimed to offer fuel efficiency as high as 35kmpl. The new-generation Baleno, Swift and Brezza will also be among beneficiaries of this new hybrid tech.
