4 Upcoming Honda Hybrid SUVs in India


Honda has recently announced its expansion plans for the Indian market, which includes 10 new product launches by 2030. SUVs will remain in focus with seven new models planned across ICE, hybrid and electric powertrains. The lineup will also include three imported SUVs – the Honda Prelude coupe, the Honda ZR-V and the Honda 0 SUV.

3 Halo Products For India

These import models will serve as halo products and help strengthen Honda’s brand image in the country. The Honda Prelude coupe will arrive in the first half of 2026, while the Honda ZR-V hybrid SUV will hit Indian roads in late 2026. The Honda 0 SUV’s India launch has been confirmed for 2027.

Honda Elevate Hybrid

According to media reports, the Honda Elevate hybrid will be the brand’s first strong hybrid offering in India. The model is likely to hit showrooms in the second half of 2026, possibly around the Diwali season. As of now, the powertrain details are not available. However, it’s expected to borrow the Atkinson Cycle 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with two electric motors from the City e:HEV. Honda’s Tapukara manufacturing facility in Alwar, Rajasthan will serve as the production hub for the upcoming Elevate hybrid SUV.

Honda Prelude Coupe

The new Honda Prelude is a hybrid coupe, featuring a 141bhp, 2.0L petrol engine paired with 181bhp, electric motor and FWD (front-wheel drive) system. The combined power output stands at 200bhp. When launched, the Honda Prelude is expected to cost around Rs 80 lakh.

Honda ZR-V Hybrid

Globally, the Honda ZR-V is available with a 2.0L petrol engine paired with a lithium-ion battery and two electric motors. This setup produces a maximum power of 180bhp and 315Nm of torque. It comes with three drive modes – EV, Hybrid and Engine. Honda also sells the ZR-V with a 1.5L turbo petrol engine mated to a CVT gearbox and AWD system in select global markets.

Honda 7-Seater Hybrid SUV

Honda will foray the premium 7-seater SUV segment with an all-new model slated for launch in late 2027. The SUV will be designed and developed by Honda’s R&D center in Japan and Thailand. In the company’s product lineup, the new Honda 7-seater SUV will sit above the Elevate. It could be the first model to be based on Honda’s new PF2 modular platform.
