Hybrid vehicles are steadily gaining popularity in the Indian market. However, the segment is set to witness a significant boost with the arrival of new products from Renault, Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia and Honda. In 2026, at least four new hybrid SUVs are expected to hit showrooms.
The Renault Duster hybrid has been confirmed for the second half of 2026 (possibly by October). Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are also expected to introduce the three-row versions of the Grand Vitara and Hyryder, respectively.
As of now, there is no official words on the arrival of the Honda ZR-V in India. However, media reports suggest that the hybrid SUV might launch as a CBU (completely built unit) towards the end of 2026. There is a possibility that its launch could be pushed to early 2027 launch. Check out the key specifications of these upcoming hybrid SUVs.
Renault Duster Hybrid

The French automaker has confirmed that the Renault Duster hybrid will feature a 1.8L, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with dual electric motors, and a 1.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This strong hybrid will offer a claimed power of 160 PS and 172 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful hybrid system in the segment. Save for hybrid badges, the overall styling and design of the Duster hybrid are likely to remain unchanged.
Maruti/Toyota 7-seater SUVs
The upcoming Maruti Suzuki’s premium three-row SUV will be based on the Grand Vitara, sharing its platform, powertrain, features and design elements. This means, it will feature a 1.5L Atkinson cycle petrol engine, which produces power worth 115.6 PS in the Grand Vitara. The SUV is expected to feature an eCVT automatic gearbox and a FWD (front-wheel drive) system.
Toyota might also intorduce a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki’s 7-seater SUV, likely based on the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. While it will carry a different design language, the engine specifications and features are expected to remain the same.
Honda ZR-V
In India, the Honda ZR-V is likely to be offered with a 2.0L, four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, mated to an eCVT gearbox. Its combined power and torque figures stand at 180 bhp and 240 Nm, respectively. Since the ZR-V will be an import unit, its exterior and interior will be exactly similar to its global version. The SUV will offer features such as dual-tone cabin theme, a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, a wireless charging pad, a sunroof, dual zone climate control, ADAS and more.
