Maruti Suzuki plans to expand its product portfolio with nine new models over the next three years, with a strong focus on SUVs, EVs and hybrid vehicles. In a major development, the Indo-Japanese automaker is set to introduce its in-house developed strong hybrid powertrain in the Fronx facelift sometime next year. Codenamed HEV, Maruti Suzuki’s series strong hybrid system is said to be significantly cost effective and efficient than Toyota’s Atkinson strong hybrid technology.
According to reports, Maruti Suzuki might hybridize its 1.2L K-Series petrol engine for its future mass-market hybrid vehicles. These hybrid models are expected to deliver fuel efficiency of over 35kmpl. However, official details on the same are yet to be revealed.
If you’re looking for a high mileage hybrid SUV, Maruti Suzuki will bring you five new options across segments and price points in the coming years. Let’s take a quick look at these upcoming models.
Maruti Grand Vitara Facelift
The Maruti Grand Vitara facelift is expected to arrive in the second half of 2026 with subtle design changes and feature upgrades. Some of its styling updates could be inspired by the Victrois. Engine options; however, are likely to remain unchanged.
7-Seater Maruti Grand Vitara
Maruti Suzuki has confirmed a new premium three-row SUV for the Indian market, widely referred to as the 7-seater Grand Vitara. Compared to its 5-seater sibling, the new model will be longer and more spacious accommodating an additional row of seats. It’s expected to be offered with the same 1.5L Atkinson cycle strong hybrid and mild hybrid powertrain options as the current Grand Vitara.
Maruti Fronx Hybrid
Maruti Suzuki has been testing the Fronx facelift for quite some time now. The updated model is likely to receive minimal changes inside and out. However, its biggest highlight will be the introduction of Maruti Suzuki’s in-house developed strong hybrid powertrain.
Maruti Y43
According to reports, Maruti Suzuki is developing an all-new micro SUV (codenamed Y43) as a replacement to the now-discontinued Ignis hatchback. While official product details are still under wraps, speculations suggest that it could be offered with multiple powertrain options including petrol, CNG and hybrid.
New-Gen Maruti Brezza
Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift is set to launch on July 23 2026, while its next-generation model is expected to arrive in 2029. As a part to the generational upgrade, the Brezza will receive Maruti Suzuki’s new series hybrid powertrain.
