Maruti Suzuki India and Toyota Kirloskar Motors’ strategic partnership for sharing products and technology has been working well for both carmakers. Under this collaboration, the OEMs have planned several new models slated to arrive in 2026-2027, including MPVs and SUVs. To attract family car buyers, both companies will introduce five new MPVs. Out of these, four will be shared products, while one will be exclusive to Toyota.

Let’s take a look at the key details of these upcoming Maruti and Toyota family cars.
Maruti Ertiga/Rumion Facelifts

The highly popular Maruti Ertiga MPV received its last update in 2022. Following Maruti Suzuki’s typical product lifecycle, the MPV is now expected to witness a midlife update in 2026. While there is no official word on its launch timeline and details, the new Maruti Ertiga is expected to come with slightly revised styling and feature upgrades, while retaining the existing engine setup. Toyota’s version of the Ertiga, the Toyota Rumion, is also expected to follow suit.
Maruti YMC EV MPV/Toyota’s Derivative
Maruti Suzuki is working on an all-new electric MPV (codenamed YMC), which is expected to arrive in 2026 or 2027. The model is likely to share design elements, features and powertrain with the eVitara. Based on the skateboard platform, the new Maruti 7-seater MPV is expected to come with two battery pack options – 40kWh and 60kWh.
Toyota will also introduce its version of the Maruti YMC, which is expected to derive design inspiration from the Toyota Urban SUV concept. However, its platform, powertrains, components and features will be similar to the Maruti’s 7-seater electric MPV.
Toyota Innova Hycross Facelift
The Toyota Innova Hycross facelift is expected to arrive with minimal cosmetic updates and feature enhancements, while retaining the powertrain options. With the implementation of upcoming CAFÉ 3 emission norms, the Toyota Innova Crysta will be discontinued and replaced by a more affordable, lower-spec hybrid variant of the Innova Hycross early next year.
