Aiming to reclaim a 50 percent share of the Indian market by 2030, Maruti Suzuki has planned several new models with multiple powertrain options to attract both premium and first-time car buyers. With a major focus on the SUV (sport utility vehicle) segment, the carmaker will introduce five major products by 2027 including a premium three-row SUV, a micro SUV and facelifted versions of the Brezza and Fronx. The last four models, along with the Baleno facelift, will tap the sub-4 metre mass-market segment.
The 2026 Maruti Brezza and Baleno facelifts, which have been spotted testing multiple times, are expected to launch in the coming months. Both models are likely to be offered with the Fronx’s 1.0L turbo petrol engine, while retaining their existing powertrain options. The CNG variants might get an underbody CNG tank similar to the Victoris. Only minimal design and feature updates are expected.

Reports suggest that the new Maruti Fronx facelift might receive two major updates – the addition of an ADAS suite and a strong hybrid powertrain. It could be the brand’s first model to feature its in-house developed series hybrid technology, which is said to be more fuel efficient and cost-effective than Toyota’s Atkinson hybrid system.
Interestingly, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx flex-fuel is also part of the 2026 product lineup. Showcased at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, the model features neon body graphics while retaining the same overall design language.
The Indo-Japanese automaker is also developing a sub-4 metre micro SUV, which will be positioned against the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. Codenamed Y43, the model is expected to borrow the 1.2L Z-Series petrol mild hybrid engine from the Swift hatchback. Both manual and AMT gearboxes are expected to be on offer.
The upcoming Maruti micro SUV is likely to be introduced as a replacement for the recently-discontinued Ignis. It’s likely to be aggressively pricing against the Punch and Exter, which are currently priced between Rs 6.13 lakh – Rs 10.32 lakh and Rs 6 lakh – Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
