55% Buyers Choose Tata Sierra Diesel Over Petrol


The all-new Tata Sierra went on sale in India with its starting price announced on 25th November, 2025. Riding on strong initial buzz, the SUV garnered 70,000 bookings in just the first day, a figure that has continued to rise with each passing day. According to dealers, nearly 55 percent bookings are coming for the Sierra diesel, followed by 25 percent for the naturally aspirated petrol and 20 percent for the turbo-petrol variants.

Variant-Wise Engine Options

Upcoming midsize SUVs in India

The 1.5L diesel engine, which is good for 118bhp and 260Nm/280Nm, is available across all seven trims – Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+. Save for the base Smart+ and Adventure trim, all diesel variants are offered with automatic gearbox option.

The 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine produces a maximum power of 106bhp and 145Nm of torque. It can be had with either a manual (standard) or a DCA automatic (Pure, Pure+ and Adventure trims only) gearbox. The top-end Accomplished+ trim isn’t available with the NA petrol engine. The 1.5L turbo petrol engine, paired exclusively with an automatic gearbox, is offered exclusively with the Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+ trims.

Colour Options

The Tata Sierra lineup comes in six colour options, namely, Andaman Adventure, Bengal Rouge, Munnar Mist, Pristine White, Pure Grey and Coorg Cloud. It’s important to note that the colour availability varies by variant, however, the top three trims are available in all six shades.

Price Range & Competition  

Prices of the Sierra SUV start from Rs 11.49 lakh for the base variant and go up to Rs 21.29 lakh for the full-loaded trim. The turbo-petrol variants are available at a starting price of Rs 17.99 lakh.  All prices mentioned are introductory, ex-showroom.

Deliveries of the SUV are scheduled to begin from 15th January, 2026. In the midsize SUV segment, the Tata Sierra directly takes on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Victoris and Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
