At this financial year’s Investor presentation, Hyundai Motor India has confirmed the launch of two all-new SUV nameplates along with a Made-In-India compact EV. While the carmaker remained tight-lipped about the upcoming models, they are likely to be the Hyundai Bayon-based midsize SUV and the next-generation Hyundai Creta.
Hyundai Bayon – Debut by September 2026
For people not in the know, the Hyundai Bayon is currently sold in several European markets and Hyundai’s Izmit manufacturing facility in Turkey serving as its major production hub. The carmaker will introduce a Bayon-inspired SUV in India to challenge the Maruti Suzuki Victoris and other midsize SUVs in the segment.
In Hyundai’s product lineup, this new SUV will sit between the Venue and Creta and sold alongside the latter. It’s expected to debut by September, followed by its market launch in subsequent months.
According to reports, the Hyundai Bayon SUV will initially be introduced with naturally aspirated petrol and factory-fitted CNG powertrain options. The carmaker is likely to use its proven 1.5L NA petrol engine, which currently powers the Creta. Interestingly, it will be Hyundai’s first CNG model measuring over 4-metres in length.
2027 Hyundai Creta – Debut Early 2027
The next-generation Hyundai Creta will go hybrid, with an expected 1.5L strong hybrid powertrain. The existing 1.5L petrol and diesel engine options will also be carried forward. The new Creta will be longer, wider and more spacious than the current model. It’s likely to derive several design elements from the Crater concept, which was first unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2025.
The 2027 Hyundai Creta will also be the brand’s first SDV (Software Defined Vehicle), featuring Hyundai’s Pleos Connect infotainment and connected car operating system. Built on Android Automotive OS, the system will offer Gleo AI assistant, Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, app store and more. The SUV could also be offered with new seat upholstery and trims, an updated ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) and adjustable headrests for rear seat occupants.
