Google is rolling out the Android 17 QPR 1 Beta 8. This update will be available to AOSP, as well as to Google Pixel devices, as part of Feature Drops. This update does not feature new user-facing changes, and is focused on critical bug fixes and system performance.
One of the changes in this update is a fix for the loud audio distortion and static. The update addresses a persistent buffer management flaw within the audio framework, which resulted in random bursts of loud static and corrupted audio during media playback and system notifications.
Other changes include a fix for a Pixel Tablet Speaker Dock frequently going offline or failing to connect when attached, as well as a fix for an NFC service regression, and an issue with fingerprint authentication.
The update is available for AOSP and all compatible Pixel devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program (Pixel 6 onwards).
