As the festive season approaches, car manufacturers are gearing up to launch several new models and updates for their existing offerings. Among them, JSW MG Motor India and Kia India are set to launch a new energy vehicle and the Sorento three-row premium SUV, respectively. The upcoming JSW MG offering, expected to be called MG Hector Hawk, is scheduled to make global debut on August 26. The Kia Sorento will hit showrooms on September 4, 2026.
Here’re the key details we know about these two upcoming SUVs.
MG Hector Hawk
The MG Hector Hawk will be the brand’s first model based on the all-new ADAPT platform, and will feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It’s expected to be based on the Wuling Starlight 560, which is currently sold in the Chinese market. Similar to its global counterpart, it could be offered with both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery electric (EV) powertrain options.
Measuring 4.7 metres in length, the MG Hector Hawk PHEV is likely to feature a 1.5L petrol engine paired with a 20.5kWh battery pack and an electric motor. The combined output stand at 195bhp and 230Nm. The EV version is expected to come with a 69.2kWh battery pack paired to a 201bhp electric motor mounted at the front axle. It offers a claimed CLTC range of 530km.
Kia Sorento
Official bookings for the Kia Sorento are already underway ahead of its launch in September. The SUV is expected to be brought as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) and could be priced around Rs 40 lakh onwards. In India, it will be offered with strong hybrid and diesel powertrain options. The hybrid version will feature a 1.6L turbo petrol hybrid setup, producing power worth 238bhp and 380Nm. On the other hand, the diesel variant is likely to come with a 2.2L engine, generating 202bhp and 441Nm.
In terms of features, the Sorento will offer a dual 12.3-inch display setup, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual zone climate control, a four-spoke steering wheel, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, HUD, a panoramic sunroof, a powered driver’s seat, a wireless charging pad, an electronic parking brake, Level 2 ADAS and more.
