Meta has introduced a refreshed wordmark for Instagram, featuring a new font and styling while retaining elements of the original design. The updated wordmark is now visible at the top of Instagram’s mobile apps.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced the new wordmark in posts on Instagram and Threads, noting that the previous design had remained unchanged for 10 years and was due for a refresh.
Mosseri describes the new wordmark as “cleaner and more modern.” The Design at Instagram page has also shared more details about the thinking behind the refreshed wordmark and broader brand system.
According to the design team, it went through hundreds of iterations before settling on the new version. The refreshed wordmark is intended to reflect the creativity of Instagram’s community.
