RugOne, a brand under Ulefone, has announced a new smartphone featuring a detachable action camera. Called the Xsnap 7 Pro, the rugged phone will officially launch at IFA Berlin. Notably, RugOne launched its Xever 7 series of rugged phones at IFA last year.
The Xsnap 7 Pro’s party trick is its detachable camera, which is housed within the rear panel when not in use. The cube-shaped camera is said to support 2.7K video recording at 30fps.
According to Engadget, the detachable camera can record for up to 40 minutes on a single charge and comes with 64GB of built-in storage. It connects to the smartphone wirelessly through a companion app.
The camera attaches magnetically to the phone when not in use and is also waterproof up to a depth of 5 metres.
The smartphone itself features a 50MP primary rear camera with OIS, alongside a 64MP infrared night-vision camera with dedicated IR LEDs. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8400 chipset and features a 6.67-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone also carries an IP69K rating for dust and water resistance.
The RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro will debut at IFA this weekend and is set to launch on Kickstarter on September 7 with an early-bird price of €799. It is also said to be available globally starting next month with a price tag of $999.
The rugged phone will be available in Classic Black and Sand Dune color options.
