Here’s another look at Tecno’s Camon Slim bezel-less concept phone

You may remember Tecno’s bezel-less concept phone, which we handled at the IFA trade show a week ago. Well, we have it at the office for a closer look. Now, we’re not going to cover the same ground all over again; go and check out our original piece on the concept. Think of this as more of a high-quality gallery.

The bezel-less concept phone is based on Tecno’s 5G Camon Slim. It even calls itself by that name in About phone. And it reports the same base specs – a Dimensity 7300e chip and a 6,000mAh battery.

But there are differences. The concept Slim is thicker than the actual Slim to accommodate the dual-layer cover glass and the wrap-around that’s happening on the inside.

The concept phone is also a bit shorter and, as you’d expect, has thinner bezels (duh).

Being a concept phone, this Tecno isn’t retail-ready and likely won’t ever hit store shelves. It’s mostly functional, but we did have substantial issues in setting the phone up initially. Then it randomly reset itself, and we had to go through the setup all over again.

The SIM tray is only for show – there’s no SIM slot on the phone. Concept phones are an engineering exercise for makers – a literal proof of concept. They’re fun, and they capture the attention (and imagination of people). Plus, we hadn’t seen a bezel-less concept in a long time. It takes us back to the Xiaomi Mi Mix.
