After Realme partnered with Warner Bros on the Realme 15 Pro Game of Thrones Edition, it’s time for the Realme 16 Pro Harry Potter Edition! As blockbusters go, these two are not easy to beat.
The phone on which this special edition is based is great on its own merit, but it’s still the Harry Potter stuff that’s more interesting. And there’s a lot of that here.
For starters everything is packed inside the tiny little Hogwarts school trunk. The phone, an 80W charger, a USB cable, a case, an invitation letter to Hogwarts, bookmarks from each of the four houses – Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Gryffindor – and some leaflets from the first movie.
Everything is clad in a lovely brown color that’s perfectly appropriate at the beginning of the fall season. The phone’s frame and camera island are accented in gold. It’s sort of a Gryffindor phone, this.
The case hides all that’s great about the design of the Realme 16 Pro Harry Potter Edition, but it’s still nicely color-matched to the phone and retains the Hogwarts crest in the center.
But underneath is the real deal. The Hogwarts crest on the phone’s back is truly impressive with texture and depth, and, once hit by some UV light, color!
The colors of each house are proudly displayed, and it’s an effect of varying degrees. Go out in strong light and the colors will pop more. Use the phone indoors, and it will either be very dull-colored or grey.
The rest of the rear panel has a leather-like texture, finished in this brown that’s nearly red under certain angles. Realme says the diamond pattern is inspired by wizard’s chess from the books and movies.
Then there’s the camera island, which has a nice little extra touch on this special edition model – a Hedwig-inspired design. Notice the little golden diamond between the two main lenses? It does look like an owl!
The Harry Potter-fication runs deeper still. The UI has Hogwarts all over it – the castle is on the wallpaper, there are more than 30 custom icons, and even the animations are custom – there’s a Harry Potter boot animation and a custom letter wax fingerprint animation.
Still, once you go beyond the main screen, you’re back to Realme’s UI 7.0, based on Android 16.
The phone feels ample in the hands. The combination of a 6.78-inch screen and a 7,000mAh battery is the main culprit.
On the plus side, you can fully expect a superb media consumption experience and very long runtimes!
