New Luxury EV Brand Coming To India With 1,000+bhp Car


BYD has announced the entry of its luxury brand, Denza, into the Indian market. While the exact timeline and details are yet to be revealed, the officially shared social media post features the brand’s logo with an “ARRIVING SOON” caption. It also confirms that Denza will introduce a “sophisticated, high-performance EV experience” in India.

Established in 2010, Denza was initially a joint venture between BYD and Daimler (Mercedes-Benz) ro develop premium new-energy vehicles (NEVs). BYD provided its expertise in batteries and electric powertrains, while Mercedes-Benz contributed its experience in luxury vehicle design and engineering. In 2024, BYD became the sole owner of the brand after Mecedes-Benz exited the partnership.

Upcoming Denza Cars In India

Official details of the upcoming Denza models are still under the wraps. However, the reports suggest that the carmaker will introduce the Denza D9 MPV and Denza Z9 GT fastback by the end of this year. With estimated price of around Rs 80 lakh, the D9 will compete with the Toyota Vellfire in India. Meanwhile, the Z9 GT will cater to a niche segment and is expected to be priced between Rs 1.2 crore to Rs 1.5 crore.

Denza D9 – What to Expect?

Globally, the Denza D9 MPV comes with a 103kWh Blade battery paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor and a single-speed reduction gear. It offers a claimed WLTP range of 520km on a single charge. The MPV supports 200kW DC fast charging and 11kW AC charging.

Some of its key features include a premium Nappa leather interior, a panoramic sunroof, second-row seat with multifunction LCD control screen, sliding doors, a 14-speaker Dynaudio Hi-Fi system, three zone climate control, PM2.5 filtration, 128 colour ambient lighting, a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, OTA software updates, 9 airbags, ADAS and more.

Denza Z9 GT – What to Expect?

The global-spec Denza Z9 GT PHEV is available with a 2.0litre turbo petrol engine paired with electric motors and a BYD Blade battery. This setup delivers a combined range of 805km. Its electric version features 2nd-gen BYD Blade battery and three electric motors, producing a combined 1,156bhp. It offers a claimed WLTP range of up to 600km on a full charge.
