Mahindra Thar Roxx May Get Major Ride Comfort Upgrade

Mahindra & Mahindra recently introduced the Thar OG (facelifted Thar 3-door) with significant design changes, a new-gen platform, more features, revised suspension and more powerful engine options. The new Mahindra Thar OG features the brand’s Pentalink rear suspension with a Watts Link, DAVINCI damping technology and Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD).

The latest spy images of the Mahindra Thar Roxx suggest that the SUV could soon be offered with the DAVINCI damping technology, replacing the existing MTV-CL dampers along with FDD and HRS. The Roxx already gets FDD and HRS as part of its advanced damping setup.

How Does DAVINCI Work?

Mahindra’s DAVINCI damping technology with Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD) is an advanced suspension setup that provides different levels of damping depending on how frequently and quickly the suspension moves. It enables the suspension to absorb smaller, faster road inputs more smoothly while offering greater damping control during larger body movements.

The technology is also designed to improve ride comfort over rough roads, while maintaining better body movement control during braking, cornering and over undulations.

Engine Options

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is currently available with two engine options – a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel. Both come with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox, while the 4X4 drivetrain system is reserved for the diesel variants.

The petrol manual version delivers 160bhp with 330Nm, while the petrol automatic variants are good enough for 175bhp and 380Nm. The diesel manual version, available with RWD & 4X4, produces power worth 152bhp and 330Nm. Meanwhile, the diesel automatic RWD offers 152bhp with 330Nm, while the diesel AT 4X4 generates 175bhp and 370Nm.
