Hyundai Motor India and Renault India are gearing up to make this Diwali season grand with the launch of the all-new Bayon midsize SUV and the Duster Hybrid. The Hyundai Bayon will make its official debut on October 12, followed by its market launch. Bookings for the SUV are already underway for a token sum of Rs 11,000. Meanwhile, the Renault Duster hybrid is set to go on sale in India on October 19, 2026.

Hyundai Bayon

Measuring around 4.2 metres in length, the Hyundai Bayon will be positioned between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s product portfolio. According to reports, the SUV could be offered with a 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT (iVT) automatic gearbox. The engine will produce a maximum power of 114bhp and 144Nm of torque. The SUV lineup may also be available with a CNG powertrain option. The CNG version might feature an underbody CNG tank, freeing up boot space.

The Bayon will feature an upright and boxy stance. Upfront, the SUV will sport a split headlamp setup with H-shaped signature DLRs and a sporty bumper with a scuff plate. Other design highlights will include pronounced wheel arches, dual-tone alloy wheels, pull-type door handles, a window line with an upward kink, LED taillamps and a roof-mounted spoiler.

The system delivers a combined power output of 160bhp and 172Nm of torque.

Renault claims that the Duster hybrid can run in EV mode for up to 80 percent of the time in city driving conditions. It comes with a multi-mode automatic gearbox with fixed gear ratios. When launched, the Renault Duster hybrid will directly rival the Maruti Grand Vitara and Victoris, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
