Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has registered total domestic sales of 29,302 units in August 2025 as opposed to 28,589 units in the corresponding month previous year. This translated into a year-on-year (YoY) sales growth of 2.49 percent. When compared to 29,159 units sales of July 2025, the automaker posted a minimal increase of 0.49 percent. In addition, Toyota exported 4,934 units. Between January and August 2025, the Japanese automaker sold 2,41,696 units, recording an impressive YoY 13.59 percent growth.
Official Statement:
Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, TKM, said: “We sold 29,302 units in August 2025, maintaining our steady presence in the market and are encouraged by the continued trust customers place in our cars and services. September will be an important phase for the industry overall, and we will closely observe market trends as they unfold. At Toyota, our focus remains on innovating and introducing value-added services through the festive season, with the hope of uplifting customer sentiment and making purchase decisions easier and more joyful.”
Toyota’s Future Plan:
The Japanese automaker is likely to introduce its first electric SUV – the Urban Cruiser EV – in 2026. It will essentially be a re-badged version of the upcoming Maruti e Vitara. The EV will be based on an all-new skateboard architecture, and come with two battery pack options – 49kWh and 61kWh. The higher-spec variant is expected to deliver a range of over 500km on a full charge. The Toyota Urban Cruiser will be 4,285mm long and has a wheelbase of 2,700mm.
Rumour also suggest that Toyota might bring in the re-badged version of the upcoming Maruti midsize SUV (widely known as the ‘Maruti Escudo’ so far). Furthermore, the next-generation Toyota Fortuner is also reported to debut in 2026 with significantly improved styling and feature upgrades. Its engine setup; however, is likely to remain unchanged.
