Nothing has already announced its Nothing OS 4.0, and today we are also getting a preview of Essential Apps. Nothing wants to shake up the standardized smartphone operating system look and Essential Apps are the key.

Nothing promises hyper-personalized experiences, tailored for each user’s needs. But what does that even mean? Well, you’ll be able to generate mini-apps and widgets based on prompts and instantly access said apps and widgets. These will then live on your device and users will be able to share their creations with others via the Playground community platform.
Some examples of Essential Apps include an app that suggests what to wear based on your wardrobe, a mood tracker that syncs with a music playlist, and a receipt and expense form.
As Essential Apps are still in their alpha cycle, users will have to join a waitlist for early access. Nothing is also implementing some safeguards. Nothing Phone (3) users will be able to use up to 6 widgets while older Nothing and CMF phone models will be limited to 2 Essential Apps.
