New Toyota FJ Cruiser Unveiled: Launch Timeline, Specs, Features


The new Toyota Land Cruiser FJ SUV has finally made its public debut at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show 2025 in Tokyo. It’s one of the smallest models of the Land Cruiser SUV lineup, featuring the signature boxy and upright stance. Toyota has confirmed that the new FJ Cruiser will go on sale in Japan around mid-2026. However, there is no official word on its India launch.

The carmaker says that the Toyota FJ Cruiser aims to offer “new value in the form of “Freedom & Joy” that come from enjoying the Land Cruiser in your own way – while retaining the reliability, durability and off-road performance that support people’s lifestyles.”

The new FJ Cruiser measures 4,575mm in length, 1,855mm in width and 1,960mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,580mm. The front fascia looks aggressive with a large gloss black rectangular grille with ‘TOYOTA’ badging at the centre, a sporty bumper with integrated fog lamp assembly, C-shaped LED DRLs and a silver skite plate.

From the side, the SUV has a rugged appeal with black alloy wheels, flared fenders and massive body cladding. It also features roof rails, blacked-out B-pillars and the conventional door handles. At the rear, the new mini Land Cruiser spots a flat windscreen, vertically stacked C-shaped LED taillamps and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.

The new FJ Cruiser offers a sporty all-black cabin with multi-layered dashboard, a dual screen setup for infotainment and instrument functionalities, a three-spoke steering wheel and circular AC vents. On the safety front, the new FJ Cruiser offers Toyota Safety Sense (ADAS suite) along with multiple airbags and other standard safety aids.

Under the hood, the new Toyota Land Cruiser FJ houses a 2.7L naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with a 6-speed electronically controlled torque convertor (ECT) automatic gearbox. This motor dishes out a maximum power of 163PS and 246Nm of torque. The SUV comes with the 4WD (part-time four-wheel drivetrain) system.
