The Indian midsize SUV segment has been dominated by the Hyundai Creta ever since its launch. Regular updates and generation upgrades have helped it maintain its top position in the market. However, the scenario is going to change soon with the arrival of new contenders in the coming months. Carmakers such as Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Kia, Renault, Nissan, Skoda and Volkswagen are gearing up to launch their new models in this highly competitive space.

The two iconic nameplates – the Tata Sierra and the Renault Duster – are set to be make a grand comeback in completely new avatars. The Sierra will go on sale on 27th November, while the third-gen Duster will make its India debut on 26th January 2025. Both these SUVs will come with completely new design, premium interiors and multiple powertrain options
Maruti Suzuki will introduce its first-ever electric offering – the e Vitara – in December 2025. It will be offered with two battery packs, and deliver a range of over 500km. Around the same time, Kia will roll out the next-gen Seltos, which will receive a hybrid powertrain by 2027.
Nissan has also confirmed its own version of the new Renault Duster, called the Nissan Tekton. Although, its debut and launch details are yet to be announced; however, it’s expected to arrive in the first half of 2026. The Tekton will feature a new design language, while its platform, interior layout, features and powertrains will be shared with the new Duster.
Skoda’s Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun SUVs will receive their first major midlife updates in early 2026. Both models are expected to receive subtle design changes along with new features such as ADAS suite and a 360 degree camera.
