Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s romantic drama Ek Deewane Ke Deewaniyat, directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, completed 30 days at the box office with a stellar run despite facing a strong clash with the much bigger Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. While Thamma has minted more money at the box office with a collection of Rs 134.37 crore in 30 days Ek Deewane Ke Deewaniyat managed to carve out its own space thanks to steady word-of-mouth and solid support from romance-genre audiences.The film released on the occasion of Diwali with an opening day collection of Rs 9 crore , the film saw a small drop on the next two days which were Wednesday and Thursday as it collected Rs Rs 7.75 crore and Rs 6 crore respectively. But in its extended 10 day first week the film collected a healthy Rs 55.15 crore, establishing the film as a solid performer while Thamma went on to collect Rs 108.4 crore. In Week 2, both found their levels while Ek Deewane Ke Deewaniyat was able to earn Rs 16.3 crore Thamma was only slightly ahead at Rs 18.7 crore. The gap was only Rs 2.4 crore. And in Week 3 Hardhvardhan’s film was able to even narrow down the gap as it earned Rs 5.85 crore while Thamma collected Rs 5.9 crore.By Day 30, Ek Deewane Ke Deewaniyat had delivered a commendable performance across urban and semi-urban centers. Despite the overshadowing presence of Thamma in the first week, it is EDKD which has had the upper hand from the second weekend as it kept on narrowing down the gap between the two films. The success of Sanam Teri Kasam’s re-release and now Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has opened many doors for’s Harshvardhan career with his next being Force 3 with John Abraham which will be followed with one backed by Ektaa R Kapoor.
