The upcoming Volkswagen Tayron three-row SUV has been teased for the first time ahead of its India launch. While the exact launch date is yet to be announced, the SUV is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2026. Wrapped in a white veil, the teaser highlights the Tayron’s silhouette along with its LED lighting signature. In India, the Tayron will be brought via CKD (completely knocked down) route and assembled at Volkswagen Group’s Aurangabad facility.

Design Highlights
The teased silhouette hints at the SUV’s bold and commanding presence, featuring a full-width LED strip merging into the headlamps. Positioned at the centre of this LED bar is an illuminated VW logo. At the rear, the Tayron sports connected taillamps with a slim LED strip and a backlit VW logo. Unlike the global-spec VW Tayron which comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, the India-spec version is expected to be offered with larger 19-inch units, likely borrowed from the Tiguan R Line.

Premium Features
Positioned as a premium offering, the Volkswagen Tayron will be packed with several advanced features such as a 12.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.15-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone charging pads, 10-colour ambient lighting, 700W Harman Kardon system, three-zone automatic climate control, 9 airbags, dynamic classic control Pro, rear view camera and more.
Petrol Engine Only
In India, the new Volkswagen 7-seater SUV is likely to be offered exclusively with a 2.0L TSI petrol engine, the same unit found in the VW Tiguan R Line and Skoda Kodiqa. This four-cylinder, direct-injection unit generates a maximum power of 204bhp and 320Nm of torque. Power is transmitted via a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The SUV might come with Volkswagen’s 4MOTION AWD (all-wheel drive) system.
Expected Price
As far as pricing is concerned, the Volkswagen Tayron is expected to cost around Rs 49 lakh – Rs 50 lakh (all, ex-showroom). At this price point, it will take against the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, MG Gloster and Jeep Meridian.
