The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is scheduled to go on sale in India on January 19, 2026. It’s essentially Toyota’s re-badged version of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, featuring brand-specific cosmetic changes. In the midsize electric SUV segment, the Urban Cruiser EV will directly take on the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric and MG ZS EV.
While prices will be announced in the coming days, the EV is expected to be priced around Rs 21 lakh for the base variant and nearly Rs 26 lakh for the top end trim (ex-showroom).

Sharing Powertrain With e Vitara
Official powertrain specifications, features and other key details are still under the wrap. However, the new Toyota electric SUV is mostly likely to share the 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs with the e Vitara. Both batteries will be paired with a front-axle mounted electric motor. The smaller battery pack produces a maximum power of 144bhp, while the larger battery delivers power worth 174bhp. The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is expected to offer a driving range of over 500km on a single charge.
Modern Design
The latest teaser confirm that the new Toyota electric SUV will feature LED headlamps with DRLs and a thick black trim featuring Toyota’s signature badge at the centre. The final version will stay true to the near-production model showcased at the last year’s Bharat Mobility Show.
