The wave of felicitations for Padma Shri awardee Santoor maestro Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya has now crossed borders, reaching the United States after widespread celebrations in India.A special cultural evening held at the Church of Scientology in Hollywood brought India’s classical music heritage to an international audience. The event featured Swami Shuvananda Puri Maharaj alongside Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya and stood as a tribute to the Maestro’s national honour and lifelong contribution to Indian classical music.The concert showcased a vibrant blend of senior artists and emerging talents. The evening opened with a Teentaal tabla solo by Shreyas Iyer from Phoenix, followed by a flute recital in Raag Hamswadhwani by Rama V. Rao, a disciple of Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya. Hindustani vocalist Sushma Kashyap Pawan concluded the evening with Raag Puriya Dhaneshree and a devotional bhajan, accompanied by tabla maestro Pandit Jyotirmay Roychowdhury.Addressing the gathering, Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya expressed happiness at seeing young musicians carry forward the guru–shishya parampara on a global platform, underscoring the role of education, performance and cultural exchange in sustaining Indian classical music worldwide.His ongoing USA tour includes concerts across Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Phoenix, concluding with a finale performance in Los Angeles..
