The Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric sedan has finally made its India debut. Pre-bookings for the EV will begin on 10^th March, followed by its market launch in April. While the official price announcement is still a few weeks away, the electric CLA is expected to cost between Rs 55 lakh – Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom). Buyers will have five exterior colours to choose from – Polar White, Cosmic Black, Alpine Grey, Clear Blue and Patagonia Red.

Battery & Range

Built on Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA), the Mercedes CLA Electric uses an 800-volt electric architecture, featuring an 85kWh battery pack paired with a rear-axle mounted electric motor pushing out power worth 268bhp. The EV is claimed to offer a range of 792km (WLTP cycle) on a full charge. Paired with a 2-sped transmission, the CLA electric does 0 to 100kmph in just 6.7 seconds. The Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric supports DC fast charging of up to 240kW, and takes 20 minutes to offer a range of 400km.

Dimensions & Design

Dimensionally, the Electric CLA measures 4,723 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width and 1,468 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm. The EV offers a boot space of 405-litres along with a frunk of 101-litres. Some of its design highlights include a closed-off front grille with 142 small backlit stars, twin-pod headlamps with star-shaped LED DRLs, 18-inch alloy wheels, flush-fitting door handles and connected LED taillamps.

In India, the Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric will be offered in a single 250+ variant, offering a massive 14-inch central touchscreen infotainment system supporting Mercedes’s latest MB OS operating system and a 10.25-inch driver’s display. The EV comes with a host of features including six 100W USB-C fast charging ports, wireless charging, OTA (over-the-air) software updates, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, camera and radar-based Level 2 ADAS suite, and many more.
