Ever since the passing of industrialist and polo patron Sunjay Kapur, the polo fraternity has paid tribute to him through the sport he loved. After a minute of silence was observed at the finals of the Cavalry Gold Cup last year, the Jindal Polo Spring Season organised the Sunjay Kapur Memorial Cup, honouring the industrialist and celebrating his legacy and contribution to sport and enterprise through a week of competitive polo action.

The final match was attended by his wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur, and their son Azarias Kapur, who also felicitated the players during the prize distribution ceremony.After the match, Priya spoke about how the tournament was a fitting tribute to Sunjay. Kissing the trophy with her son Azarias, she said, “It is a very heartwarming and overwhelming feeling because I have been on the grounds many times and watched him play. It brings back a lot of memories. I feel he is right here with us. It is a beautiful tribute, and I am honoured to be here.”
