After Queen Charlotte, Shonda Rhimes teases a Violet Bridgerton spin-off: Will Marcus Anderson be the new leading man?
Shonda Rhimes has sparked intrigue with her suggestion of a forthcoming ‘Bridgerton’ spin-off that showcases the romantic developments between Violet Bridgerton and Lord Marcus Anderson. Their chemistry, which will be highlighted in Season 4, has drawn considerable viewer attention.

Shonda Rhimes has hinted at the possibility of a new ’Bridgerton’ spin-off focusing on Violet Bridgerton and Lord Marcus Anderson. The producer and writer recently pointed to Violet as a strong character for a future standalone story, giving fans a fresh clue about where the hit Netflix franchise could go next. The tease comes as interest remains high around the romantic arc between the Bridgerton matriarch and Marcus, whose relationship drew attention during ‘Bridgerton’ Season 4.

‘Bridgerton’ spin-off could follow Violet and Marcus

Speaking on Craig Melvin’s podcast, Rhimes addressed the idea of expanding the ‘Bridgerton’ world through another spin-off. She said, “I’ve always said that I thought if we were going to do something like that, Violet would be a great person to tell the story about. That’s a possibility.” The remark quickly sparked interest because Violet has become one of the emotional anchors of the main series. In ‘Bridgerton,’ Violet, played by Ruth Gemmell, is known as the family matriarch who guides her children through love, loss, and marriage. By the time Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, marries Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha, Violet appears to be in a more settled phase of life. That shift creates room for her own romantic story to take center stage.

Violet Bridgerton and Marcus Anderson’s love story

Season 4 also pushed Violet’s personal life further into focus through her connection with Lord Marcus Anderson, played by Daniel Francis. The show depicted Marcus, a relative of Lady Agatha Danbury, sharing a passionate relationship with Violet. He wanted to marry her, but the proposal stalled because the family was going through a difficult period. The season also featured a major loss for Francesca, played by Hannah Dodd, following her husband’s death. The tragedy left the family shaken and affected the emotional timing around Marcus’s proposal. That context gave Violet and Marcus a story built on both romance and restraint, which could easily support a separate series. The franchise has already proven that side stories can work. Netflix previously released ‘Queen Charlotte’ in 2023 as a one-season spin-off focused on Queen Charlotte and King George. That series, featuring Corey Mylchreest and India Amarteifio as the younger versions of the characters, drew strong audience interest and expanded the world beyond the main ‘Bridgerton’ story. Rhimes’ latest comments now place Violet and Marcus firmly in that conversation.
