Top 5 Upcoming 7-Seater Hybrid SUVs in India – Marut, Hyundai, Kia & More

Hybrid vehicles are gradually gaining momentum in the Indian market. According to industry predictions, the hybrid segment is estimated to witness a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 24.81% by 2029, nearly doubling compared to its size in early 2025. Currently, Toyota Kirloskar Motors is leading the segment, commanding over 80 percent market share with models such as Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Inova Hycross. Maruti Suzuki and Honda are following the suit.

However, competition in the hybrid passenger vehicle segment is set to heat up with the arrival of new products from OEMs such as Hyundai, Kia, Renault and Nissan. In fact, there will be multiple hybrid SUV options for larger families, and here we have round up the top five upcoming 7-seater hybrid SUVs.

Upcoming 7-Seater Hybrid SUVs In 2026-27

Maurti Grand Vitara/Toyota Hyryder 7-Seater

Maruti 7-seater SUV MPV

Maruti Suzuki has confirmed a premium three-row SUV, measuring over 4.5 metres in length. It’s expected to be based on the Grand Vitara, and take on the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus. The carmaker is likely to adopt a multi-powertrain strategy similar to the Grand Vitara. This means, it could be offered with petrol, strong hybrid and CNG powertrain options, borrowed from its 5-seater sibling.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has already started testing the 7-seater Hyryder, and one of its test mules was caught on camera revealing a few design details. The SUV will be longer than the 5-seater Hyryder, but is expected to underpin the same platform and offer similar features.

While official launch timelines of these upcoming strong hybrid SUVs have not yet been revealed, the models are expected to arrive by the end of 2026.

Kia Sorento

Kia Sorento India

Kia is likely to introduce the Sorento-based 7-seater hybrid SUV in late 2026 or early 2027. It will be the brand’s first hybrid offering, which is likely to use the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol hybrid powertrain. In global markets, the Sorento is available with three engine options – a 1.6L petrol hybrid, a 2.2L diesel hybrid and a 1.6L petrol plug-in hybrid.

Renault Boreal

Renault Duster 7-seater SUV

The Renault Boreal will essentially be the three-row version of the new Duster, sharing platform, powertrain, features and components. It’s expected to come with a 109bhp, 1.8L, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 49bhp electric motor, a 1.4kWh battery pack and a 20bhp hybrid starter generator. This setup delivers a combined power of 160PS and 172Nm of torque.

Hyundai Ni1i

New Hyundai 7-seater SUV

The Hyundai Ni1i 7-seater hybrid SUV is expected to be based on the Hyundai Tucson LWB, which is on sale in China. The latter one measures 4630mm in length, 1865mm in width and 1665mm in height. Unlike the long-wheelbase Tucson, which uses a 1.6L petrol hybrid powertrain, the Ni1i is expected to use an electrified version of the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine.
