The midsize SUV segment is already crowded with models such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara & Victoris, Tata Sierra, new Renault Duster, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
Nissan India will enter the segment soon with the Tekton, which will essentially be the rebadged version of the new Duster. Additionally, while the Skoda Kushaq has already received updates, the Volkswagen Taigun will also set to receive a midlife update in April, 2026. This means the midsize SUV space will soon welcome two more new offerings. Let’s take a look at the key details of these upcoming models.
Volkswagen Taigun Facelift

The updated Volkswagen Taigun is set to go on sale on April 9, 2026. The SUV is likely to come with slightly improved styling, new features and a new powertrain option (similar to the Kushaq). While the existing 115bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol and 150bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol engines will remain intact, the former will get a new 8-speed automatic transmission, replacing the current 6-speed AT unit.
Inside, the new Volkswagen Tiagun 2026 facelift might receive a new colour scheme and new trims along with a larger 10.25-inch driver’s display, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats. Read more…
Nissan Tekton

Nissan’s version of the new Renault Duster is expected to arrive around June 2026. Official teasers suggest that the SUV will feature Nissan’s signature grille, connected LED headlamps and taillamps with a C-shaped signature, multi-spoke alloy wheels, pull-type door handles at the front and C-pillar mounted door handles at the rear, and silver finished roof rails
The interior will feature a three-tone dashboard with a glossy black finish and a coloured strip running from the touchscreen to the AC vents. Most of its features will be borrowed from the Duster. Under the hood, the new Nissan Tekton is expected to offer a 1.0L turbo petrol in lower variants and a more powerful 1.3L turbo petrol in higher. Read more…
