In a conversation with Raj Shamani, Janhvi recalled that losing her mother felt like the hardest experience of her life. She mentioned being fully dependent on Sridevi for even small decisions. She had always turned to her mother for advice on clothes, choices, and right from wrong. The void left her feeling unprepared to handle life on her own at first.“I was completely dependent, I never use to make decisions. I was dependent on her in the matters like, what should I wear? What should I do? What is right? What is wrong? What is there? What is not there?” she said. Janhvi had relied heavily on her mother for guidance in everyday choices. The loss forced her to grow up quickly in many ways.

Janhvi explained that reactions from people made everything more painful. Everyone seemed quick to comment on whether she appeared too happy or not sad enough, “I had to learn to make my own independent opinion.
