4 New Toyota 7-Seater Family Cars Coming To India – Fortuner to MPV


Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Indian arm of the Japanese automaker, has a solid plan to strengthen its presence across segments. The company has lined up around half a dozen of new products, slated to arrive in the next 3-4 years. These include a 7-seater Hyryder, next-gen Fortuner, updated Innova Hycross, an electric MPV (rebadged Maruti), Land Crusier FJ and Corolla Cross.

This means, Toyota will soon have four models with three-row seating configuration making them suitable options for larger Indian families. Here’re the key details of the upcoming Toyota 7-seater family cars we know so far.

Upcoming Toyota 7-Seater SUVs/MPVs

7-Seater Toyota Hyryder

Toyota Hyryder 7-Seater launch

The carmaker has started testing the 7-seater Toyota Hyryder SUV, which will share its platform, powertrain, features and components with its 5-seater sibling. However, it will be longer and have more cabin space to accommodate an additional row of seats. It’s expected to come with the 1.5L mild hybrid and strong hybrid powertrain options.

New-Gen Toyota Fortuner

Codenamed 582D, the third-generation Toyota Fortuner will receive radical design changes and feature upgrades, inspired by the new Hilux. The SUV is likely to offer a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a full digital driver’s display along with ventilated and powered front seats, wireless phone charging, a sunroof, a 360-degree camera and an ADAS suite. Under the hood, the 2026 Toyota Fortuner is expected to feature the same 2.7L NA petrol and 2.8L diesel engines, powering the current generation.

2027 Toyota Innova Hycross

Maruti MPV Hycross

According to Autocar, the 2027 Toyota Innova Hycross lineup will introduce a lower-spec hybrid variant, targeting fleet buyers. Only minimal changes are expected. The report further states that the popular Innova Crysta MPV will be discontinued in 2027 due to the stricter CAFÉ 2 norms.

Toyota Electric MPV

Toyota’s version of the upcoming Maruti electric MPV (codenamed YMC) is expected to arrive in 2027 or 2028. While its underpinning, powertrain and features will be exactly similar to the Maruti YMC, its design and styling will be slightly different to maintain brand identity.
