Introduction

The Nord 6 is OnePlus’s newest mid-range smartphone. As has been the case in the past, it is a modified but largely identical variant of an existing Chinese release, in this case, the OnePlus Turbo 6. The Nord 6 is currently only being launched in India, and a wider global release may or may not be on the cards, depending upon whether the company even exists to operate in those regions.

Yes, things are looking a bit dire for OnePlus right now, but we will get to that towards the end. For now, the focus will be on the device at hand. The Nord 6 is pushing further in some key areas compared to its predecessor, in the form of an updated display, a faster chipset, and a big bump in battery.

The new Nord 6 can go up to 165Hz in gaming, which is the highest in its class. It gets upgraded to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, which might not be impressive if you are trying to promote your phone as a flagship, but pretty great if you are targeting the mid-range segment. And finally, it has an enormous 9000mAh battery, the biggest on a OnePlus phone so far, and even bigger than some of the tablets that the company shipped in the past.

All of that sounds great on paper, so let’s go ahead and see what the phone is like in practice.

Unboxing

The OnePlus Nord 6 introduces a new design to the Nord series. The new box maintains the predominantly Blue Atoll color scheme of all Nord-branded packages but loses the large triplicated Nord text in favor of calmer packaging that is more in line with the mainline OnePlus phones.

Inside the box, you get the phone, a color-matched soft silicone case, an 80W charger, a red charging cable that we really wished at some point had turned blue to match the Nord branding, and a SIM ejector tool. The display glass also has a pre-applied screen protector.
