Britannia clocks 22% rise in March quarter profit

Mumbai: Britannia Industries reported a 22% increase in March quarter profit as biscuit and snack demand held steady despite supply disruptions linked to the West Asia conflict.

Net profit rose to ₹680 crore in the quarter ended March, from a year earlier, while revenue increased 7.1% to ₹4,686 crore, the company said in an exchange filing on Thursday.

Managing director Rakshit Hargave said sales growth moderated in March after a stronger start to the quarter, hurt by disruptions in the international business because of the West Asia conflict .

“We have already initiated steps to mitigate any potential implication on the business, including input cost inflation, arising out of the ongoing conflict, and remain watchful of the evolving developments,” he said.

The maker of Marie Gold and Good Day biscuits said e-commerce now contributes about 6% of its domestic business, helped by premium product launches and growth in adjacent categories such as croissants and wafers.
