The upcoming Renault Bridger subcompact SUV has been patented in India. The patent images look slightly different from the concept, which was unveiled in March 2026. However, the SUV’s production version is likely to stay true to the concept, while receiving several practical changes inside and out.
The patented model carries the boxy and upright stance, featuring a larger grille, aggressive-looking LED lights, muscular skid plate and wide air dam. The alloy wheel design looks different from the concept while elements such as the C-pillar integrated rear door handles, squarish fenders, LED taillamps design, sporty rear bumper and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel appear to have been retained.

Renault hasn’t yet revealed the interior details. However, the carmaker has confirmed that the SUV will offer an “exceptional” cabin space with a class-leading rear knee room of 200mm. The concept is claimed to offer a boot space of 400-litres.
Multiple Powertrain Options
The Renault Bridger rugged SUV will be built on the RGMP platform that supports multiple powertrains including petrol, hybrid and electric. This means, the subcompact SUV could be offered with multiple engine options including a new 1.2L, four-cylinder turbo petrol.
This new petrol engine will feature a more economical multi-point fuel injection system (MPFi), allowing it to accommodate CNG fuel setup as well. It’s expected to offer power around 120bhp, making it as powerful as the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet’s 1.0L turbo GDi petrol engine.
The SUV’s lower variants are expected to get a naturally aspirated derivative of the 1.2L turbo petrol engine. Renault has revealed that the production-ready Bridger will deliver “class-leading efficiency”.
Launch Timeline & Production
The Bridger subcompact SUV is set to hit Indian roads by the end of 2027. It will be designed and developed especially for the Indian market. Renault’s Chennai manufacturing facility will serve as production hub for both domestic sales and export markets.
