Maruti, VinFast & BYD Major Launches Within Days – All Key Details


Green mobility solutions are gaining popularity among Indian buyers, driven by government initiatives and the introduction of modern technologies by carmakers. Nearly 2 lakh EV (electric vehicles) were sold in FY2026, while the CNG sales reached to a record 10.34 lakh during the same period. Now, carmakers such as Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors are gearing up to launch their first flex-fuel vehicles by the end of this year.

In the coming days, Maruti Suzuki, VinFast and BYD will introduce new green mobility vehicles in India. The Indo-Japanese automaker will launch its first flex-fuel car on June 4, which could either be the Maruti WagonR or Maruti Fronx. While the Vinfast will launch its Green SM services on 5th June, BYD is set to unveil its first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in India on June 9, 2026.

On the World Environment Day, Maruti Suzuki will unveil its first flex-fuel car at an event in Delhi. Details of the product are still under the wraps. However, it could be either the production-ready WagonR flex fuel or the Fronx fuel fuel.

VinFast Green SM

Vinfast will introduce its ride-hailing company, Green SM, in India on June 5, 2026. Initially, the service will operate in the Delhi-NCR region, followed by expansion to other metro cities. The Vinfast Limo Green will be the first model to be depolyed under this service, which essentially the fleet version of the VF MPV7. The Vinfast VF MPV 7 features a 60.13kWH battery pack and offers an ARAI-certified range of 517km.

BYD PHEV

BYD hasn’t yet revealed the name and details of the upcoming PHEV. However, it could either the BYD Atto 2 DM-I or Sealion 6 DM-i. The Atto 2 PHEV uses a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 7.8kWh or an 18kWh battery pack, delivering power worth 166bhp and 212bhp, respectively. It offers a combined WLTP range of 928km for the 7.8kWh version and 998km for the 18kWh variant.

The BYD Sealion 6 is powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated and turbo petrol engines, both are offered with an 18.3kWh and a 26.6kWh battery packs. It offers an NEDC-certified range up to 1,092km.
