Aiming to further strengthen its position in the market, Tata Motors has planned several new EV launches across multiple segments and price brackets. Tata Avinya, a premium dedicated EV sub-brand, is an important endeavour for the homegrown carmaker as it will establish Tata as a luxury-tech EV brand. Furthermore, the Avinya range will showcase the company’s global design and technology standards along with debut of a new platform sourced from the Chery-JLR (CJLR).

First Avinya SUV Launching In 2027
The Tata Avinya X (codenamed P2) will be the first production-ready model under this dedicated premium EV umbrella. The model is expected to make global debut in late 2026, followed by its India launch in 2027. It will be designed on the Chery-JLR architecture, which also underpins the recently unveiled Freelander SUV concept.
While official powertrain specifications are still under the wraps, the upcoming Tata Avinya X is expected to feature battery packs ranging between 60kWh – 80kWh. Its range is likely to be over 500km per charge. The EV will also support fast charging.
Key Features
Positioned as a premium EV, the Tata Avinya X is expected to be offered with several advanced features such as a large floating central infotainment system, a lounge-like 4-seater layout, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging capabilities, wireless phone charger, an ADAS suite and more.
Production Plan
The first Avinya electric SUV will be produced at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Jaguar Land Rover (TMPV-JLR)’s new manufacturing facility in Panapakkam, Tamil Nadu. The carmaker plans to gradually increase production capacity to 250,000 units per year.
