The Nissan Tekton, the Renault Duster-based midsize SUV from the Japanese automaker, is set to make its global debut on July 9, 2026. Ahead of its official unveiling, the carmaker has dropped the first clear teaser of the production-ready model, highlighting the Nissan Patrol-inspired design language.
Referred to as ‘Mini Patrol’, the new Tekton will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and Victrois, Toyota Hyryder, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
Patrol-Inspired Design

The latest teaser reveals the SUV’s upright and boxy stance along with an aggressive-looking front fascia. It features a massive black grille with a red strip running across and a Nissan badge in the centre. The connected LED DRLs with inverted L-shaped LEDs appear to be borrowed from the Patrol. Styling elements such as a high bonnet line, sporty side cladding, pronounced squared-off wheel arches and bold shoulder creases will further enhance its muscular looks.
At the rear, the Nissan Tekton is likely to feature connected LED taillamps, sporty bumper, a faux silver skid plate, a small integrated roof spoiler and a rear wiper and washer. Dimensionally, the new Nissan midsize SUV is expected to as big as the Renault Duster, which measures 4,343mm in length, 1,815mm in width and 1,691-1701mm in height.
Duster-Like Interior & Features
Interior details are still under the wraps. However, the Tekton is likely to offer a cabin layout and features similar to the Renault Duster. The feature list is expected to include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a premium audio system, a wireless charging pad, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS and more.
Turbo Petrol Engines
The engine options are also likely to be borrowed from the Renault Duster. This means, the new Nissan SUV could be available with the 100bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol and 162bhp, 1.3L turbo petrol options. A 6-speed manual gearbox will come as standard, while the 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission will be reserved for the 1.3L variants.
