This is day 2 of 4 of Amazon’s annual Prime Day shopping event. Yesterday we looked at the best smartphone deals. Here we will focus on tablets, smartwatches, headphones and other interesting gadgets.
Table of Contents:
Apple iPads
Amazon is clearing out its inventory of 2024 iPads, specifically the M4-powered iPad Pro 13 and the iPad mini. The mini uses an A17 Pro chipset, which was designed with Apple Intelligence in mind.
Android tablets
Samsung Galaxy Tab S models are from the flagship series – they are the only ones with video-capable USB-C ports. The Tab S10 FE duo supports DeX, but the USB-C 2.0 port limits the desktop-like multitasking to the tablet’s own screen.
We’ll also highlight the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active models here. They have replaceable batteries and pogo pins for docks – the tablets can work without a battery by running on external power from the dock. This is mainly intended for kiosk and vehicle mounting, but you may find a use for it at home too, e.g. a smart home control panel without the worry of a permanently plugged-in lithium battery.
Amazon tablets
Amazon’s Fire Kids tablets deserve some special attention – unlike typical Fire tablets, these do not have ads by default. Also, these come with a year of Amazon Kids+, which is a subscription service that offers ad-free books, games, videos and apps (including from the likes of Disney, Marvel and Lego).
Apple Watches
There were several iPhone deals that we shared yesterday – today, you can pair them with an Apple Watch.
Google Wear OS watches
Note that the Samsung watches have 4G options, if you want to be able to receive calls and messages on your watch even if you don’t have your phone on you. The Google Pixel Watch 4 also has a 4G variant, but it adds something extra – satellite SOS. This is a great “in case of emergency” option as even if your phone has satellite connectivity, it might break or get lost.
Headphones
We’ve picked out a selection of TWS and over-ear headphones from some of the top brands. We have reviews for most of these, which you can consult to find the one that suits you best.
microSD cards
Most smartphones don’t have expandable storage – and this sucks even more now that storage prices are going up. Luckily, most tablets still have a microSD slot. These are not just for tablets, though.
The Samsung P9 microSD Express uses a faster data bus (SD Express) and is used in the Nintendo Switch 2. The SanDisk Max Endurance is meant for security cameras where video files can be overwritten for years without wearing out the flash memory. And then there are the more standard microSD cards intended for general purpose storage – the Lexar one offers 2TB extra storage.
