Honda recently announced a new product development strategy for the Indian market, under which the carmaker will develop market-specific models. This approach is aimed at achieving “an optimal balance of performance and price.” Over the next five years, Honda Cars India plans to launch 10 new models including multiple global hybrids.
Meanwhile, the carmaker is gearing up to launch the Honda ZR-V hybrid SUV in July 2026, followed by the Elevate facelift and the new 0 Alpha EV electric SUV.
Honda ZR-V
The Honda ZR-V will come to India in limited numbers via the CBU route, with an estimate price range of Rs 40 lakh – Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV comes equipped with a 2.0L, four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a dual-motor strong hybrid system. It delivers a combined power of 184bhp and 315Nm of torque. An e-CVT transmission sends power to the front wheels. The ZR-V does 0 to 100kmph in 8 seconds and offers a top speed of 172kmph.
Honda Elevate Facelift
The new Honda Elevate 2026 facelift is likely to receive subtle design changes and feature upgrades. According to reports, the mid and top trims are expected to come with ventilated front seat covers and a 360-degree camera. The SUV could also get a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while the ADAS suite could be offered on more variants, making the safety package more accessible.
Under the hood, the new 2026 Elevate is likely to feature the same 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, pushing out power worth 121bhp and 145Nm of torque. Transmission options will also remain unchanged – a 6-speed manual and a CVT.
Honda 0 Alpha EV
The production-ready Honda 0 Alpha EV is likely to remain true to its concept. Honda is likely to offer the EV with two LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery packs, ranging between 65kWh and 75kWh. It features Honda’s ‘Thin, Light and Wise’ design language and carry upright and wide stance.
The carmaker’s Tapukara facility in Rajasthan will serve as production hub for the new Alpha 0 electric SUV. When launched, it will take on the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki eVitara and Toyota Ebella.
